Join the Fashion Fairies

Every year with Fashion With A Passion, we meet up to discuss how we can make a bigger impact and unite the community here in San Diego to benefit the wonderful Wish children and families. Raising over $20,000 dollars last year from our event alone, we are excited for our event on April 6th, 2013 hosted at the beautiful FIDM San Diego campus.

To kick-off our fundraising this year, our committee is very excited to have the opportunity to grant the wish of a very special young lady. Many wonder how much it takes to make a wish come true for a Wish Kid and their family. On average a granted wish amounts to $7,500 depending on the wish, so the generosity of others is essential. If you would like to participate (and we know you do!) please click on the Fashion Fairies tab and complete a pledge form. Without further ado, the Fashion Fairies are pleased to introduce Christina:

Christina’s Wish: to go an a Hawaiian Cruise

15-year-old Christina lives in Lemon Grove with her parents and younger brother. She is in her school’s show choir and loves pop and hip-hop music – her favorite performer is Selena Gomez. She is active and enjoys volleyball and track. Her favorite colors are blue and purple, she loves pandas, her favorite restaurant is Joe’s Crab Shack and she’s also very fond of lasagna and lemon cream cake!

Christina is battling stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and although she has had to endure many doctor’s visits and medical treatments, she maintains a cheerful attitude and positive outlook. “I have an incredibly smiley personality and people say my smile is contagious,” says Christina, “I’ve talked to some classes at my school about my condition and show them I’m still smiling!”

Christina was referred to Make-A-Wish by her child life specialist at Rady Children’s Hospital and when given the chance to wish for anything, she chose a Hawaiian cruise with her family. She is already counting the days until her departure on March 16, 2013 for the trip of a lifetime – a 7-night cruise which will visit five Hawaiian Islands!
